A New Star Approaches Walkthrough

This is the sixth main quest you will unlock in Genshin Impact, but you will have to finish the previous quest Farewell, Archaic Lord, as well as reach AR 28 before you can proceed with this quest. You should consider doing Daily Commissions or World Quest to quickly increase your AR.

The Floating Palace

• Description: The mysterious emissary Ganyu appeared before you at Third-Round Knockout. Claiming to have come at Ningguang's behest, she invited you to the skyfaring palace known as the Jade Chamber. To that end, you and Paimon have come to Mt. Tianheng, from where you can see the Jade Chamber in the distance.

Equilibrium

• Description: After arriving at the Guizhong Ballista on Mt. Tianheng, you are surprised to meet another member of the Qixing there. Her name is Keqing, and she gives you detailed instructions on how to ascend to the Jade Chamber. Paimon, however, is preoccupied with another detail that Keqing mentioned: the custom of bringing a greeting gift.

• Description: At Ningguang's advice, you verified the Fatui's schemes regarding the Sigil of Permission before continuing to help Zhongli prepare for the rite. you met Ganyu once again at Dihua Marsh before returning to Liyue Harbor — only to find that things in the city seem to be spiraling out of control.

Turning Point

• Description: The adepti faced off against the Qixing outside the city. Just as things were coming to a head, you went to the Golden House to intercept Childe as he attempted to seize the Gnosis, only to find yet another twist: The Gnosis was never at the Golden House to begin with. Childe swiftly switched to his backup plan, attempting to force the Geo Archon to make an appearance by summoning an ancient god with Fatui-forged Sigils of Permission...

The Fond Farewell

• Description: The ancient god was subdued once again following a fierce battle and much sacrifice. The dust settles, and your journey in Liyue is reaching its conclusion with the Rite of Parting. But before that, there are still some mysteries regarding the Geo Archon that need unraveling.

The Floating Palace

To start this quest, you first need to go to Mt. Tianheng. Open your map and select a teleport waypoint that's nearest to the objective to fast travel. Once you reach the mountain, you'll see the a floating palace from afar, also known as the Jade Chamber.

Now you should look for a way to get to the Jade Chamber. You should see a platform floating in the middle of the sky, also a clover-like mechanism just by the edge of the mountain, use a character with an Anemo ability to trigger the mechanism, it should spawn a Wind Current and two glowing rings that can help accelerate you upon gliding through them.

Once you reach the floating platform, you can see the Guizhong Ballista from there, Paimon suggests that we can use the device to see if there's another way up nearby. Now go back to the mountain, and follow the yellow icon leading you to the Guizhong Balista, it should just be on the other side of the mountain, you can just jump off the mountain and glide down there.

When you reach the Guizhong Ballista, there will be Millelith Soldiers on guard. They will find you suspicious and will try to capture you, you must take them down. You have to defeat three waves of Millelith Soldiers to advance.

After taking down the Millelith Soldiers, you will be interrupted by a lady known as Keqing, the Yuheng of the Qixing. As she introduces herself, she says that she came out in the mountains to investigate the Guizhong Ballista, since it has long been in disrepair and yet it was fixed in a single night, she also says that the Millileth are just here to guard the scene and not to arrest anyone. Keqing also explained that there's a correct path to reach the Jade Chamber, and that you didn't actually have to go to Mt. Tianheng. Paimon then suggest that you should go gather ingredients to make Sugar-Frosted Slime, she says that she has a feeling that it would be the perfect gift for Ningguang once you visit her.

After your conversation with Paimon, your next objective Equilibrium will begin shortly after.

Equilibrium

For this quest, you will need to gather the ingredients necessary to make the Sugar-Frosted Slime. Paimon needs three ingredients. Two yellow icons will appear on your map, head over to the nearest yellow icon to where you're from. Once you reach the first yellow icon, defeat the Large Hydro Slime to obtain the first ingredient Tasty Slime Condensate.

After obtaining the first ingredient, follow the next yellow icon, it should lead you to a ruin, once you get close enough, a dialogue should occur. You will see a person in a cage, and a bunch of Treasure Hoarders around the area.

Defeat the Treasure Hoarders, you should obtain a Cage Key once you've defeated all the Treasure Hoarders guarding the area, you will use it to free the person in the cage.

Go towards the cage and press interact to open the cage and talk to the person inside. He will then thank you for rescuing him. He then introduces himself as Meng Dan, a supplier for Mingxing Jewelry in Liyue Harbor, he says he often walk around these mountains in search of antiques. He never expected that the Treasure Hoarders would have their eyes on the same ruins that he had and before he knew it, he was already caught and imprisoned. He then asks if you're lacking anything like antiques, treasures, or various knick-knacks. Paimon then asks if he has a box that can store presents, and he says of course. He also says that the Mingxing Jewelry has the best gift-wrapping service in the seven nations. He will tell the boss your request, and you can visit her whenever you require the box.

After your conversation with Meng Dan, you should now head over to Mingxing Jewelry. Open your map and select a teleport waypoint inside Liyue Harbor to fast travel. Once you're in Liyue Harbor, just follow the yellow trail, it'll lead you to the Mingxing Jewelry. When you reach the shop, press interact to talk to Xingxi (Owner, Mingxing Jewelry).

She then thanks you for saving Meng Dan, she also explains that many of the best goods in their store were found by Meng Dan. She then presents an antique container with at least 140 years of history. Xingxi will also throw in two freshly-picked flowers as decorations.

After talking to Xingxi, you then have obtained an Extra-Sweet Sweet Flower and the Sugar-Frosted Slime. Now you will have to look for the guide to the Jade Chamber. You'll find the guide somewhere around Yujing Terrace. His name is Bu'yun.

After talking to the guide, a dialogue will occur and you will automatically be at the Jade Chamber already, where Ningguang welcomes you. Ningguang explains that she invited you to her palace to clear up some misunderstandings. After the dialogue, talk to Ningguang again. She will then tell you a story about the Archon War.

After that, she will invite you to enter the Jade Chamber's premises. Go near the entrance and press interact to enter. Once you enter the premises, head downstairs and talk to Ningguang again. Then you will pick a piece of "paper snow" from her board. Go towards the board and press interact to check.

After checking the board, your next objective Solitary Fragrance will begin shortly after.

Solitary Fragrance

To start this next quest, you will have to head to the location marked on the "paper snow" you've checked earlier on the board. Go outside the Jade Chamber. Open your map and select a teleport waypoint that's nearest to the current objective to fast travel. Once you reach the waypoint, follow the yellow icon. Once you reach the area, you'll see the Fatui guarding the research area.

You can skip the fight by just heading towards a box, you'll see there's a lot of talismans attached to the box and also a lantern on top of it. Go near it and press interact to Examine the Fatui Research.

After examining the box, you should now meet Zhongli at Dihua Marsh. Open your map and select the teleport waypoint at the right of Luhua Pool to fast travel. Once you reach the waypoint, follow the yellow icon, it should lead you to where Zhongli is. You will seem him beside a tree waiting. Go towards him and press interact to talk to him.

You then tell him about your visit at the Jade Chamber and your encounter with Ningguang and  Keqing.

After the conversation, you will now search for Wild Glaze Lilies with Zhongli. A yellow icon will be presented to you to show the location of these Wild Glaze Lilies.

Once you go near it, a cutscene should occur, where your character will start singing to the flower. The flower will then transform and start attacking you. Defeat the attacking flowers to continue.

After defeating the flowers, Zhongli will say that these flowers that attacked you are called a Whopperflower. Ganyu will then show up, she says that she was just on a stroll to see the flowers. She also reveals that she is a mix of human and Qilin. Therefore, adeptus blood flows within her, she also says that she fought for Rex Lapis and the city of Liyue during the Archon War. She then stops the story and says it can be a conversation for another day, and then gives you a Wild Glaze Lily.

After your conversation with her, you should now go back to Liyue Harbor. Open your map and select a teleport waypoint located inside Liyue Harbor to fast travel. Once you reach Liyue Harbor, follow the yellow icon, it should lead you to the city gate. You will see that the area is swarming with Millileth and Fatui. You will have to ask around for the news.

You will see a Fatui named Felix near the bridge, go towards him and ask him about the situation. He then explains that the Millileth are watching the Fatui's every move now, and that these are desperate times, they cannot act rashly. He also explains that the adepti of Jueyun Karst are already on the move, and it looks like they intend to use force. The adepti do not acknowledge the Qixing, they only acknowledge the contracts of the Geo Archon. If the two sides come to blows, Liyue Harbor will be in no position to stop them. Zhongli advises you to consider your next course of action carefully. Paimon says that having connections with the Fatui seems to be quite the double-edged sword.

After the conversation, your next objective Heart of Glaze will begin shortly after.

Heart of Glaze

For this next objective, you will need to go to the Golden House. Open your map, you will see it is outside of Liyue Harbor. You can choose to select the teleport waypoint southeast of Liyue Harbor to fast travel and go from there. Once you reach the waypoint, you can continue following the yellow icon presented on the map.

Once you reach the Golden House, enter the house and continue following the yellow icon leading you to a door. When you reach the door, press interact, a HUD will be shown and you'll see the mission The Golden Shadow. When you decided to enter the Golden House, you will be given the option to change your party members first. Once you enter, you should now head straight and examine the Exuvia.

Upon getting closer to the Exuvia, you will hear a familiar voice talking to you in the background, he then reveals himself, and you will come to see that it was Childe. You will also find out that he's been planning to take the Gnosis from inside the Exuvia all along. He says that since he's one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, it is his duty to see the will of the Tsaritsa fulfilled. He will then challenge you to a battle.

This is considered one of the first boss fights in the game. Childe will not engage unless you approach him in the center. This boss fight will have three phases.

The first phase of the fight is where Childe only uses his Hydro abilities. This is also the easiest of the three phases. Most of his ranged attacks from this phase can be easily dodged just by running around him.

When you get close and start attacking him, he will summon a hydro barrier, if you keep on attacking him during this time, he will use a counter that will send you flying. It is best to keep away for now and use Characters that wield Bows or Catalysts to strike him from a distance. You can attack him after his last shot from the string of bows.

Also watch out for his attack where he shoots upwards 9 times, a blue mark on the ground will appear as to where the attack will fall. It'll constantly follow you, so you just have to keep moving while the attack is active.

He also has an attack where he will charge for a while, and then summon a giant whale-shaped attack, dealing massive AoE Hydro damage, it can also sometimes eliminate one of your characters instantly especially if it's a low-level character. Make sure to stay away and try to run for the edge of the arena once you see Childe charging for an attack.

Once you're able to bring his HP to zero on the first phase, the second phase of the fight will begin. During the second phase, Childe will move start moving around the arena more and will actively chase you, most of his attacks are stronger now, and he will be using Electro based attacks during this phase.

Most of his attacks during this phase are also similar to the first phase, but the difference is the elemental reaction and damage. There are some attacks that you should take note of.

His ultimate attack will mark your character with a circle of lightning. This attack will charge for a while, similar to the whale-shaped attack during the first phase, and then after charging, it will instantly strike at your current location, dealing massive amount of Electro damage around the area. The trick here is to time your dodge the moment you see Childe vanish, although this is difficult to perform perfectly, it is the most effective way to avoid the attack.

Once you beat him on the second phase, a cutscene will occur. He will attempt to take the Gnosis from the Exuvia, only to find out that it isn't there anymore. He thinks that you were able to beat him to it, enraged by this, he transforms into another form called Tartaglia. During this phase, he will finally be using both Hydro and Electro based attacks. You will also be repositioned to a different stage.

During this phase, it will be easier to get up close to him and attack but it he also hits the hardest during this phase. He will be using both new attacks and attacks from the previous phases.

He will retain both his ultimate attacks from the previous phases, but you have to watch out for his new ultimate as well. You will see him charge his bow as he aims and shoots upwards, and then four simultaneous blue marks will appear on the ground. It will cover most of the stage except for the center of the arena, that is where you should go once you see him charging and aiming his bow upwards.

Try using your main DPS character whenever you're able to get close to him, just try to stay behind him and keep on attacking, his attacks are slow but they hit hard, you can try dodging and use its invinsibility frames if you aren't fast enough to get behind him. Also keep an eye out for his attacks that were used on the previous phases. You should be good once you get a grasp on his attack patterns.

Once you've defeated Childe, another cutscene will occur. He will then have transformed to his normal state. Now that he's able to think normally again, he realizes that you really had nothing to do with the Gnosis being gone from the Exuvia. He then says that your ability today far surpasses that of La Signora's assessment during your last encounter at Mondstadt. He also says that anyone who strives to grow stronger as he does shall be called his friend. He also explains that he will awaken the god that lies dormant beneath Guyun Stone Forest, Osial, Overlord of the Vortex.

Childe will then escape, once you head outside, you will see the Overlord of Vortex causing chaos, Ningguang, Keqing, as well as Xiao and the other adepti joins you, and says that they are able to put their differences aside to unite against the common enemy. It was then decided that the upgraded Guizhong Ballista will be used to fight off the Overlord of Vortex, and all the adepti will lend their strength to man it.

Ningguang summoned three upgraded Guizhong Ballistas on the battlefield, the adepti Moon Carver, Cloud Retainer, and Mountain Shaper then mount these ballistas and started shooting the Overlord of Vortex, and suddenly the Fatui show up.

The cutscene ends and your next objective Turning Point will begin shortly after.

Turning Point

This next objective will immediately start right after you finish defeating Childe. You will have to protect the Guizhong Ballistas against the Fatui attack. You will have to hold the Fatui's attack for 6:40 minutes. Each Guizhong Ballista will also have a health percentage displayed on the left side of the screen.

After some time, Osial will launch its first attack. Red circular indicators will appear on the ground where hydro energy will rain down on, try to avoid these by dashing out of the circle.

Through the course of the fight, Madame Ping, Ganyu, and Xiao will infuse you with adeptal energy and provide buffs as you fight off against the Fatui and Osial. Madame Ping's adeptal energy will apply powerful burst AoE damage to your attacks. Ganyu will have your survivabilty increased, as well as replenish your HP every second. Xiao will help you increase your movement speed. After some time, all adeptal energies will be combined and you can wield all three powers at once. This time, the Fatui that will spawn on the arena will increase, take advantage of the adeptal energies that was given to you.

When the timer runs out and all three Guizhong Ballistas are still intact, a cutscene will occur. Every Fatui on the scene has been defeated, now the adepti that are manning the ballistas can focus their energy and commit fully in attacking Osial. Unfortunately, Osial is too strong and managed to destroy all the Guizhong Ballistas. Knowing this was the last line of defense, Ningguang has another idea, where she suggests that she would sacrifice the Jade Chamber. Combining all of your powers, you channel all your energy to the Jade Chamber and use it to attack Osial.

With the Jade Chamber destroyed, Moon Carver says that the aura of Osial has indeed begun to fade. The Qixing and adepti began to discuss matters concerning their negotiations.

After the discussion, your next objective The Fond Farewell will begin shortly after.

The Fond Farewell

To start this next objective, you will have to look for Zhongli, follow the yellow icon presented on the map, it will lead you to Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. You will see Ferrylady (Undertaker, Wangsheng Funeral Parlor) just outside, talk to her. She will then say that Zhongli isn't at the funeral parlor at the moment and it seems that he went to the Northland Bank.

Now follow the yellow icon that will lead you to Northland Bank. When you reach the bank, press interact to enter. A dialogue will occur once you enter the bank. Zhongli, Childe, and La Signora are discussing something. It will then be revealed that Zhongli is actually the Lord of Geo.

After the discussion and sudden revelation, you should now leave the Northland Bank. Once you're outside, go to Yujing Terrace. Although everything was set up and fake, you've spent so much time in trying to prepare and organize the Rite of Parting, so Paimon suggests that you should still participate. Once you reach Yujing Terrace, you should now approach and listen to what the locals are talking about. There should be two yellow icons which shows the location of the locals you can listen to.

After listing to the locals, head to the next yellow icon, it should lead you to a Millileth Sergeant, go towards the Millileth Sergeant to listen to the announcement.

After the announcement, head over to the site of the Rite of Parting. Ningguang, Keqing, and Ganyu will be there as well. After Ningguang delivers her speech, Keqing says that they wanted to repay your for helping out in defeating the ancient god. You will then proceed to say that maybe they can help out in putting up some missing person posters.

After that, talk to three people taking part in the Rite of Parting. You can talk to any of the NPC in the area.

Once you're done, follow the yellow trail, it will lead you to Zhongli. Once you reach him, press interact to talk to him.

After your conversation with Zhongli, the game will then prompt that you've officially completed the quest A New Star Approaches.

The next main quest after this is called We Will Be Reunited, but you would first need to complete a Story Quest from Razor Act 1: The Meaning of Lupical and a World Quest called Bough Keeper: Dainsleif. Once you've finished these requirements, you can then proceed with this next quest.
