Boss Type Normal Boss

Hydro Hypostasis is a Boss in Genshin Impact. Bosses are special enemies that are typically stronger than your average enemies and elite enemies. They usually have their own location or arena within the game. Bosses provide better rewards than normal enemies, but you will need to spend a certain amount of Original Resin to claim them. There are some bosses that won't require you to spend resin, as you will encounter some of them through the Archon Quests. Event Bosses also won't require you to spend any resin to claim its rewards.

When fighting bosses, it is important to be prepared and smart in choosing the right characters for the fight, some bosses are immune to certain elemental reactions, and it would be a waste if you were to pick your main DPS character to have the same elemental strength as the boss.

Code Name: He. A high-purity Hydro entity.
Hypostases have strong rejection properties, and will mercilessly expel any that test them. The logic behind their behavior remains a mystery.

Hydro Hypostasis Strategies

Strategy Writeup

When facing this cube boss, players will have to wait for some openings in order to have the opportunity to deal damage. This is when the boss core is exposed. Since it is a hydro boss,  it is recommended to use a Cryo, Pyro and Electro elemental in combat to deal the most effective damage.

  • Physical - 10%
  • Pyro - 10%
  • Cryo - 10%
  • Electro - 10%
  • Anemo -10%
  • Geo - 10%
  • Hydro - Immune

This boss fight also comes with a unique healing feature that is meant to aid the boss, but can be used to heal the player instead so it will be good to take advantage.

Secret Achievements:

  • Dry Clean: Defeat the Hydro Hypostasis without destroying a single one of its Water Droplets (except when its restoring HP.)
  • Bio-Oceanic Weapon: Be hit by a certain animal created by the Hydro Hypostasis.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Phase 1
Hydro Blast  This move can be anticipated by the growing hydro coat the boss forms around itself and soon enough it will explode. This can be easily avoided by stepping back since the area. This also summons two slimes. The darker slime will explode when approached and the lighter slime periodically releases healing orbs to the main boss to help with restoring HP. These orbs can be intercepted. These slimes are immune to any Hydro attacks and physical attacks so it is recommended to choose from the elements Pyro, Cryo and Electro. If wanting to complete the Dry Clean achievement, avoid destroying these slime.
Dolphin Form In this form, the boss turns into three dolphins, also mimicking its movement with a swift dive into the ground that also ends up with a large AoE upon landing. Since this is one if its animal forms, players may choose to get hit by this form to gain the Bio-Oceanic Weapon achievement, or dodge away to avoid it. You can also dash into the direction of origin since you know it will not land in its original.
Tsunami Cubes The boss forms a set of hydro cube waves in a surrounding circle that slowly rolls inwards. Look for a gap through the cubs to avoid being stuck in the center and avoid damage.
Multi dophin summon This move follows a quick boss blast before the ground will start to glow in the areas the hydro dophins will spawn. Avoid these areas as they can potential deal double damage if hit upon entry going up from the ground and coming back down. At this time the core will be exposed so you can take the opportunity to land a few hits, but be careful since a dophin can also spawn in the same area.
Water Tornado This form does not move fast, but in addition to the tornado, it summons a free AoE points where it will rain, so keep an eye out and avoid them. During this phase, it also is suggested to lure the spawn points away from the boss, so that once they spawn they remain at a distance giving you an opening to attack the boss.
Bubble Orbs Bubbles will slowly emerge from the indicated spawn points on the ground. Popping them near you will deal some damage and being too close may result in getting temporarily stuck in a bubble.
Manta Ray form  During this form, when you see a manta ray, distance yourself from the boss, because a ground slam will follow.
