Primo Geovishap is a Boss in Genshin Impact. Bosses are special enemies that are typically stronger than your average enemies and elite enemies. They usually have their location or arena within the game. Bosses provide better rewards than normal enemies, but you will need to spend a certain amount of Original Resin to claim them. There are some bosses that won't require you to spend resin, as you will encounter some of them through the Archon Quests. Event Bosses also won't require you to spend any resin to claim its rewards.

When fighting bosses, it is important to be prepared and smart in choosing the right characters for the fight, some bosses are immune to certain elemental reactions, and it would be a waste if you were to pick your main DPS character to have the same elemental strength as the boss.

After many years, the awesomely powerful Ancient Geovishaps grow accustomed to changes in their elemental environment.
Folktales hold that after the great "draconic calamity that led to the ruination of Tianqiu Valley, the overlord of the Geovishaps and Primo Geovishaps was imprisoned deep beneath the earth, and so too did they burrow into deep and unseen places, awaiting their chance to rise once more...

Primo Geovishap Strategies

Strategy Writeup

A Primo Geovishap awoken from a centuries-long slumber that can absorb different kinds of elemental power to unleash a Primordial Shower infused with either Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, or Electro. If this attack hits a character protected by a shield the Primo Geovishap will take some DMG in return. If the shield's elemental type is Geo or it matches that of the Primordial Shower, the amount of reflected DMG will be increased.

With that in mind, have a shield ready for this encounter. This boss attack can deal a basic 8000 DMG depending on some factors, so it will be a good idea not to let any DMG in and have your shield prepared.  Use the color indications on the boss to predict which elemental attack he will use and choose the appropriate shield accordingly. For example, use a pyro shield against a pyro attack, otherwise with an inappropriate shield equipped players can receive great DMG. Make sure your shield element matches the attack element to counter some DMG. A secondary option is to use a Geo shield to deflect more DMG back on the Geovishap. Take advantage of the different characters in your build and be ready to switch characters before an attack when needed.

The attacks of this boss are affected by how close players are to it. It is recommended to fight him at a range because these attacks will be easier to react to and dodge. In between some boss attack combos, you will be able to insert a few attacks during the short cooldown periods.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Phase 1
Primordial Shower Attack The game hints to use a shield to counter this attack.
Underground charge. (Ranged) The boss will approach you whilst underground and will emerge once close enough. Be ready for when he emerges so you can quickly dash away. This attack usually occurs when players are in medium-range or further. If he closes the distance enough, he will emerge and then switch to his melee attack.
Tail Whip (Melee) Tail sweeps from behind when players are close to him. This can spin 360 degrees so it's best to back away and distance yourself as soon as you see the Geovishap pull its tail back.
Tail Shards During this attack, his boss expels elemental shards onto the ground. Make sure you avoid them after landing as they continue to do AoE damage. The element of these shards is indicated by the color.
Slash and Smash At close range, the boss will do a combination of slashing, swiping and smashing with his fists. Players can choose to dash away and get out of range or it is possible to iframe through.
Scream The Geovishap lets out a linear damaging beam as he screams. Avoid the stream of the scream by stepping to the side.
