Boss Type Normal Boss

Ruin Serpent is a Boss in Genshin Impact. Bosses are special enemies that are typically stronger than your average enemies and elite enemies. They usually have their own location or arena within the game. Bosses provide better rewards than normal enemies, but you will need to spend a certain amount of Original Resin to claim them. There are some bosses that won't require you to spend resin, as you will encounter some of them through the Archon Quests. Event Bosses also won't require you to spend any resin to claim its rewards.

When fighting bosses, it is important to be prepared and smart in choosing the right characters for the fight, some bosses are immune to certain elemental reactions, and it would be a waste if you were to pick your main DPS character to have the same elemental strength as the boss.

An ancient, bizzarely-shaped autonomous machine.
It is said that this was heavy-duty engineering equipment left behind by a nation that has been destroyed. The gear system on its "head" can grind its way through even the hardest bedrock. If this was the case, then carving out tunnels with which the forces of this nation might access the whole continent would have been a thing of great ease.

Strategy Writeup

As soon as the fight starts, Ruin Serpent will burrow into the ground and resurface to shoot 4 Oozing Concretions. While the boss is doing this, the player will not take contact damage, thus this is a good time to get some free damage in with your full combos.

By using a Lumenstone, the Oozing Concretions while its charging with it and by doing so, stun the boss for about 12 seconds. To recharge the Lumenstone, you can destroy the light rocks in the field to gain some light. These rocks are broken fastest by Geo attacks or Plunging Attacks.

When all Oozing Concretions on the field are gone, the boss will repeat the burrow attack and you can continue the pattern above to eventually defeat it.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Phase 1
Lumenstone Debuff  During the fight, if the player has the Lumenstone Adjuvant equipped, its stored Energy will be reduced to 2. If you equip the item after the fight begins, you will bypass this effect.
Burrow  Burrows into the ground before resurfacing, creating 4 sources of Oozing Concretions in the field. Oozing Concretions can be destroyed using the Lumenstone Adjuvant.
Body Slam  Slams its body on the ground and slides on the floor in an arc, dealing Physical DMG on contact
Charge Attack  Charges directly towards the player, burrowing into the ground and resurfacing after a few seconds. After resurfacing, it slams its drill into the ground and creates a shockwave.
Sand Tornado Burrows into the ground, creating a vortex which sucks the player in. Deals damage while the player is inside the field, and damage upon contact with Ruin Serpent while it is burrowing and resurfacing
Oozing Concretion Bombs  If the Oozing Concretions have not been destroyed, the boss can charge up from the Oozing Concretions, and shoot a barrage of bomb projectiles into the air.
Oozing Concretion Shockwave  If the Oozing Concretions have not been destroyed, the boss can charge up from the Oozing Concretions, and create a large AoE shockwave.
Stun During the Oozing Concretion attacks, the boss will have 4 yellow glowing weak points which can be hit to stun the boss for about 12 seconds. You can destroy the weak points by attacking them (Best with Bows) or by destroying an Oozing Concretion that the boss is absorbing with the Lumenstone Adjuvant.

Ruin Serpent Lore

A Ruin machine that looks like a giant serpent has recently come alive for reasons unknown. It slithers quietly in the shadows of the mine to pave a way to the known world for unknown dangers buried in the depths of The Chasm. Judging from its appearance and movement, it looks to be a digging machine of some sort.
