Food in Genshin Impact is an item category. Food also classified as consumables are consumed by the playable characters of the game to obtain various effects and buffs, players must cook the food with the gathered ingredients. There are various recipes and special dishes that you can find and learn throughout the game. This page covers a list of all the food found in Genshin Impact.
What are Specialty Dishes?
Special dishes are food items that can only be made by a specific character. They usually have increased effects compared to the normal food item.
How do you cook a Specialty Dish?
Characters that can cook specialty dishes, or signature dishes have a chance to perfectly cook a dish, making it a Specialty Food item. The chances and probabilities vary from each character, and the probability decreases if the dish has a higher star ranking. Some regular dishes will have a specialty variant, in order to optimize the chances of gaining a specialty dish, make sure to use the character with the ability to cook the specific dish. For example, Bennet can be used to cook Teyvat Fried Egg for a chance to cook the Specialty dish equivalent, Teyvat Charred Egg.
What kinds of buffs do dishes give?
Consuming dishes mostly restore or add to the following stats
- Health
- Stat Buffs
- Stamina
- Revival
Dish rarities and rankings in Genshin Impact
Dishes are also sorted into rankings and rarities which will determine how likely it characters can make the specialty dish, and would also affect the cooking meachnic, presenting a dial stop area that is smaller when dishes have a higher ranking.
Cooking Mechanic
Once players get started with cooking, they will see a dial that moves on a meter. Ideally, players would stop the dial at the orange bar area to gain the 'perfect' results and obtain a delcious dish the the optimum stats. Cooking a dish and stopping the dial outside of the colored bar completely will result in a suspicious dish, which will reap less ideal bonuses.
How do you get Food and find recipes?
Food can be obtained mostly through cooking, but can also be purchased as a whole dish in some shops. Food can be cooked after characters obtain recipes located throughout the maps. Recipes can be purchased or received as rewards for completing areas and quests. To cook these recipes, players will also need to collect food ingredients required to make the dish.
Where can you cook food in Genshin Impact?
Players will need to have access to an open flame source, or stoves which can be found in certain restaurants. If there is no flame at the nearby stove, players can start the fire with amber.
Cooking and Proficiency in Genshin Impact
When a player first learns a new dish, they must become proficient in making that same dish by manually cooking it a certain amount of times before gaining proficiency and being able to auto cook it. Manually cooking requires the player to stop the cooking timer when the indicator is in the correct position. The location the indicator is stopped at affects the potency of the dish cooked. The orange section gives the maximum food effect, while the outside grey section gives the minimum food effect.
Cooking Ingredients and Refinement
Some ingredients in Genshin Impact can be foraged or purchased as is but, others will need time to be processed. Some examples of this is turning Milk to cream and refining wheat to become flour in order to use it as an ingredient. The ingredient menu will display the food processing time. More than one item can be processed at once, and then all that needs to be done is to wait for the processing time to finish.
