Farewell, Archaic Lord Walkthrough

This is the fifth main quest you will unlock in Genshin Impact, but you will have to finish the previous quest Of the Land Amidst Monoliths, as well as reach AR 25 before you can proceed with this quest. You should consider doing Daily Commissions or World Quest to quickly increase your AR.

Three Poignant Perfumes

• Description: Zhongli isn't concerned with the deicide itself, but with upholding Liyue's sacred traditions by giving a proper farewell to an archaic lord. Having selected a suitable batch of Noctilucous Jade, your next task is to prepare some perfumes as an offering to the Geo Archon.

The Realm Within

• Description: After identifying Rex Lapis' preferred scent, Zhongli sends you to Yujing Terrace to seek out an old friend of his, Madame Ping, and borrow a certain Cleansing Bell. Strange... Zhongli seems to be avoiding his old friend.

Zhongli's Treat

• Description: That Bubu Pharmacy trip turned into quite an exhilarating ride. (Okay, maybe not that exhilarating.) In yet another remarkable twist, Zhongli has offered to treat you to dinner!

An Organization Known as Wangsheng

To start this quest, you would first need to reach Liyue Harbor. Once you're there, follow the yellow trail leading to Northland Bank. Go upstairs and enter Northland Bank.

Once you enter the bank, head straight and talk to the bank staff, Ekaterina. Ekaterina says that Childe told her that you were able to uphold the end of your agreement, and that Childe promised he would find someone to break the stalemate. She also tells you that Childe is currently at Liuli Pavillion. After your conversation with Ekaterina, the game will prompt that you've officially started the quest Farewell, Archaic Lord.

You will now need to find Childe at Liuli Pavillion. Go outside the bank. Then you can jump down and glide from the 2nd floor, you'll see Childe just down the street, talk to him.

Childe will tell you he's found someone who can help solve the mystery of why the Liyue Qixing would hide the Geo Archon's vessel. You both enter the pavillion. This is where Childe introduces Zhongli, a consultant to an organization known as Wangsheng, and a trusted associate of the Fatui. Zhongli says that he can bring you to see Rex Lapis' vessel.

After your conversation with both Childe and Zhongli, go outside and talk to Zhongli again. He says that Liyue is the most prosperous of the seven nations, defended by deities and ruled by the Qixing and as such, the diplomatic maneuverings of the Fatui have gained no purchase here. He also says that Ningguang of the Qixing has always been on her guard against the Fatui. He then hands you A Bag of Mora.

After your conversation with Zhongli, your next objective Moonfinger will begin shortly after.

Moonfinger

To start this next objective, you will have to buy an item called Noctilucous Jade. Just follow the yellow trail leading you to the yellow icon. Once you reach the yellow icon, press interact to talk to Shitou (Boss, Jade Mystery). Shitou will then offer you to play some games, but Paimon says that you came to look for an item called Noctilucous Jade. Shitou then presents three Noctilucous Jades, you ask Zhongli which one he thinks you should take. You then decide to just take three small samples for now.

Now you will need to head over to Dadaupa Gorge, you will need to look for a giant cooking pot to test out the jade samples' authenticity. Open your map and select the nearest teleport waypoint near the yellow icon to fast travel. Once you've found the giant pot, you'll also see a bunch of Hilichurls using it. You will have to defeat all of them to continue.

Once you've defeated all of the Hilichurls, you can begin your experiment. Use one of your character's Pyro ability to heat up the pot. You don't have to worry about overheating, a dialogue will play once you've reached the right temperature.

During the experiment, more Hilichurls will spawn, they were probably attracted by the light coming from the jade. Defeat these Hilichurls to continue the experiment. Once you've defeated the second wave of Hilichurls, you can continue in heating up the pot. A third wave of Hilichurls will spawn after the second jade shines. Defeat these Hilichurls to continue with the experiment. Once you've defeated the third wave of Hilichurls, you can continue heating up the pot til the last jade shines.

The third jade will shine the brightest among the rest, Paimon suggests you go for that one. Now you should go back to Liyue Harbor and find Shitou again. Open your map and select the teleport waypoint at Liyue Harbor to fast travel.

Once you reach Liyue Harbor, follow the yellow trail leading to Shitou, and then talk to him. He will then ask which one of the Jade's will you choose. You should select the option "I would like the third Noctilucous Jade." Upon learning that this jade was to be used in the Rite of Parting for Rex Lapis, Shitou decides to sell the jade for half the price.

After receving the Noctilucous Jade, you will now head to Yujing Terrace, this is where the Rite of Parting will take place. Continue by following the yellow icon presented on the map. Once you reach Yujing Terrace, you will see a glowing light on the ground, go near it and press the interact, that's where you'll place the Noctilucous Jade.

Zhongli then says that you can leave the Jade there since he's already called a jewelsmith to shape them into the implements that you will need.

After your conversation with Zhongli, your next objective Three Poignant Perfumes will begin shortly after.

Three Poignant Perfumes

To start this objective, you would need to buy some Silk Flowers. Follow the yellow trail leading you to a guy named Bolai. Once you reach him, press interact to talk to him. Once Bolai learned that these Silk Flowers are to used and offered to Rex Lapis, he says they are free of charge. You will then have received three Silk Flowers. Zhongli tells you to ask around the city on how to make a perfume.

Now you would need to ask three locals for advice. The first one being Lan, followed by Qiming, and lastly, Ying'er. A yellow icon will appear on your map to show the location of these three people.

After asking for advice, the last local, Ying'er, told you to meet her at Wanmin Restaurant. Proceed by following the yellow icon to meet up with her. It should just be right across the street. You'll see the restaurant and Chef Mao (Boss, Wanmin Restaurant), as well as Ying'er inside.

Talk to Ying'er, she says that she's already spoken to the chef and says you can work there. Ying'er then asks you to go fetch some water first. Head outside and go at the back of the restaurant, face left and go straight. You should be able to see a barrel of water, go near it and press interact to fetch some water. Now go back to Ying'er.

Ying'er will then teach you how to craft the perfume, she says perfume-making uses an altogether different technique from alchemy. After teaching the steps, she wants you to try it out on your own using a nearby crafting bench. Now go outside the restaurant, a yellow icon will appear to indicate where a nearby crafting bench is located. Go towards the crafting bench and press interact to start crafting.

Now a HUD will be displayed on screen where you'll see "Fate's Yearning Essential Oil", "Valley Weaver Essential Oil", and "Golden House Maiden Essential Oil". You must craft all of these items to make the perfumes.

After crafting, go back to the restaurant and give the Silk Flower Essence to Ying'er. Now she explains the next stage in perfume-making which is the most important part of all. You then proceed to help Ying'er make some perfume. Once the perfumes are done, you will now go to one of the Statue of the Seven to meet up with Zhongli and show him the perfumes. Open your map, you'll see the yellow icon over the statue of the seven, use this waypoint to fast travel.

Once you've reached the Statue of the Seven, talk to Zhongli and show him the perfumes, then offer all of them up to the Statue. The last perfume you offered triggered a response from the Statue, and it looks like Rex Lapis like's that one.

After you offer the perfumes to the Statue, as well as finish your conversation with Zhongli, your next objective The Realm Within will begin shortly after.

The Realm Within

To start this next objective, you will need to head back to Liyue Harbor. Open your map and select the teleport waypoint within Liyue Harbor to fast travel. You will need to look for Madame Ping and talk to her. Once you're in Liyue Harbor, proceed by following the yellow trail leading you to Madame Ping, she should be at the Yujing Terrace.

Once you find Madame Ping, talk to here and ask her if you could borrow the Cleansing Bell. She then says she can't recall where it is exactly. She then says it must be somewhere on top of the table with the teapot.

Now touch Madame Ping's teapot to search for the Cleansing Bell. Touching the teapot will trigger a cutscene where you'll be sucked inside the teapot.

Once you're inside the teapot, cross the bridge, but you have to take down the spider since the path is being blocked by cobwebs, the spider will also be shooting you with webs, so take them down quickly.

Once you cross the bridge, turn right and cross another bridge, you'll see a bunch of Elemental Slimes in the area along with a locked console. Defeat these slimes to unlock the console.

After defeating the slimes, go to the console and activate it to form a bridge. Continue following the path on the bridge.

On another platform you'll see another locked console and a Large Geo Slime guarding it. Defeat this slime to unlock the console. There is also a spider on a cobweb blocking the path to the console, so take them out too.

Activating the console will spawn a Wind Current in the middle of the platform. Use your Wind Glider to ride the Wind Current and reach the next area. When you reach the next area, cross the bridge.

At the end of the bridge, you'll see multiple platforms that'll constantly be disappearing after a few seconds. They will reappear after while, so observe the pattern first and time your jump correctly. Once you reach the next area, a Mutant Electro Slime, and two Hydro Slimes will be wating fo you. Defeat these slimes. Also take down the spider on the cobweb blocking the path on the next area to advance.

When you reach the next area, you'll see a locked console again, and a bunch of slimes guarding it. Defeat the slimes to unlock the console.

Take note that there's a spider on a cobweb at the left most corner in the room, if you get near it, it'll start shooting webs. You don't have to take it down along with the slimes to unlock the console, but for safe measure, try taking it down as well just incase.

After defeating the slimes, activate the console, it'll spawn a Wind Current. Ride the Wind Current to reach the next area at the top. When you reach the platform at the top, activate another console to form a bridge. Cross the bridge and you should see a long table, the cleansing bell should be on top of the table. Go towards it and press interact to obtain the Cleansing Bell. Once you've obtained the item, the game will prompt that you've completed the challenge, then you can leave the domain.

Once you leave the teapot, you'll have a quick conversation with Madame Ping. After that, go back to Yujing Terrace and meet up with Zhongli.

You then show Zhongli the Cleansing Bell which is in good condition. You place the perfume prepared in place. Now Zhongli has tasked you to purchase kites, he will explain after it's done.

After your conversation with Zhongli, your next objective Downtown will begin shortly after.

Downtown

To start this next objective, go to the yellow icon presented on the map, it should lead you to a toy seller named Granny Shan. Press interact to talk to her.

She then greets Zhongli and says that she has seven kites prepared and if you are already ready to take them. But then again, Zhongli overlooked the process of payment and forgot the bring Mora. Luckily, Childe happens to be passing through and decides to pay for it. You will then have received A Huge Bag of Mora, which contains 50,000 Mora.

Now you will need to talk to three workers to help with the ceremony. Three icons will be presented on screen and on your map to show the locations of each worker. Talk to each one of them and negotiate. It is important to negotiate to some of the workers instead of paying them with their full asking price. You cannot pay all of them with their full asking price since Childe only gave you 50,000 Mora. Tic will charge you 20,000 Mora, Tac will charge you 25,000 Mora, and Toe will charge you 15,000 Mora.

If you happen to be short on Mora with one of the workers, you will have to fetch an item for them.

After negotiating with the three workers, find Childe and talk to him. He will then tell you that you can keep any leftover Mora you have left if you still have some. Zhongli decided to join you and says that now you will need to gather some Everlasting Incense, and for this, you will need to go to Bubu Pharmacy.

After the discussion, your next objective Guizhong will begin shortly after.

Guizhong

To start this next objective, you will need to head over to Bubu Pharmacy. It is also just within Liyue Harbor, you can follow the yellow icon presented on the map.

Once you reach the pharmacy, you will find out that the reception seems deserted, but then you will hear a mysterious voice welcoming you. Go and check the back of the counter to find the source of the mysterious voice.

Once you check, you'll see a little lady, too short to even reach the counter. She later introduces herself as Qiqi. She says that she died a long time ago, then she was saved by the adepti and now, she's a zombie. Unfortunately, Qiqi cannot give you the Everlasting Incense without showing her a prescription. She then asks you to go to Mt. Tianheng and find the Guizhong Ballista, and hunt a Cocogoat instead. Do this and she will give you the Everlasting Incense.

Now you will need to head over to Mt. Tianheng, a yellow icon will be presented on your map, follow it and it should lead you to the area where you can start looking for the Guizhong Ballista. Once you find the Guizhong Ballista, go towards it and press interact to inspect the weapon.

Zhongli says that the device looks broken and it seems to be inoperable at the moment. He will then task you to retrieve spare parts from the military supply post so that you can help him tinker with the device later on.

The supply post is closed so you will have to find another way in, there should be an open window, use that to enter the supply post.

Now open the chests and retrieve all its rewards, you should be able top gather the spare parts from opening all of these chests.

Now you can exit the same way you entered, or you can step on the marked symbol on the ground, and it'll open the gates for you.

Now go back to the Guizhong Ballista and bring the spare parts to repair it. Zhongli will then try to repair the device.

After fixing the device, the leader of the Treasure Hoarders (Freckle Huang) show up. Apparently, they aren't too happy about you fixing the Guizhong Ballista, and for that, they want to eliminate you. Defeat the three waves of Treasure Hoarders to move on.

After defeating the Treasure Hoarders, you should now go back to Qiqi at the Bubu Pharmacy. Open your map and select the nearest teleport waypoint near the area to fast travel. Once you reach the pharmacy, go inside and talk to Qiqi. Zhongli then apologizes for not being able to find any Cocogoat. While talking to Qiqi, the boss of the Bubu Pharmacy, Baizhu, came in and decided to join the conversation, he thanks you for looking after Qiqi. After discussing about the Everlasting Incense, Childe appears and says that he can help in sorting out this mess that you've managed to get yourselves into.

When Childe steps outside, he noticed Ekaterina was also eavesdropping on our conversation.

Now that you've acquired the Everlasting Incense, go back to Yujing Terrace and talk to Zhongli. After completing all the tasks, Zhongli says that he's decided to treat you to a meal, and this time he won't be forgetting to bring Mora with him.

After your conversation with Zhongli, your next objective Zhongli's Treat will begin shortly after.

Zhongli's Treat

To start this next objective, you would need to skip time to between 18:00-23:00. You can open the Paimon Menu then select the Time Menu, from there you can just move the hand to the time you want to skip to, and then press confirm.

Once you've advanced the time, you should now go to Third-Round Knockout. A yellow icon will be presented on your map, follow the yellow icon. You should see Zhongli waiting for you at the table outside the restaurant. Go towards the table and press interact to sit.

Once you sit down, Zhongli will say that he's already ordered food for both of you. Then, a storryteller from the restaurant says that he will continue the tale of Lady Ningguang's Jade Chamber. Paimon then got curious as to what kind of person Ningguang is, as she was at the Rite of Descension, and you've been hearing Liyue locals talk about her a lot, and Paimon also thinks that she's most likely the one who hid the Exuvia.

While in the middle of a conversation, a lady then interrupts and says that she's finally found you. She then introduces herself as Ganyu, an emissary of the Liyue Qixing, and secretary at the Yuehai Pavillion. She says that she has a letter from Lady Ningguang, and that Lady Ningguang extends a formal invitation to you in her capacity as Tianquan, and that she invites you to her palace in the sky.

After the dialogue, the game will then prompt that you've officially completed the quest Farewell, Archaic Lord.

The next main quest after this is called A New Star Approaches, but you will need to reach AR 28 first before you can proceed with this next main quest.
