Boss Type Normal Boss

Anemo Hypostasis is a Boss in Genshin Impact. Bosses are special enemies that are typically stronger than your average enemies and elite enemies. They usually have their own location or arena within the game. Bosses provide better rewards than normal enemies, but you will need to spend a certain amount of Original Resin to claim them. There are some bosses that won't require you to spend resin, as you will encounter some of them through the Archon Quests. Event Bosses also won't require you to spend any resin to claim its rewards.

When fighting bosses, it is important to be prepared and smart in choosing the right characters for the fight, some bosses are immune to certain elemental reactions, and it would be a waste if you were to pick your main DPS character to have the same elemental strength as the boss.

Anemo Hypostasis Strategies

Strategy Writeup

The Anemo Hypostasis protects itself from incoming attack with is durable shell. The key is to time your attacks and land blows while their elemental core is exposed. They're able to control their elemental orb and they can restore their health as well. Before heading into any boss fight, you would need to prepare your lineup. You would need a well-rounded team that has at least one main DPS character and healing/resonance combo characters. It is advisable not to pick a character with an Anemo elemental ability as the Anemo Hypostasis will be immune to its effects.

These are the stats and resistances for the Anemo Hypostasis:

  • Physical - 10%
  • Pyro - 10%
  • Cryo - 10%
  • Electro - 10%
  • Anemo - Immune
  • Geo - 10%
  • Hydro - 10%

As you can see from the list above, this boss is immune to the effects of Anemo and the rest of the elements and damage can work well as it only has 10% resistance to the rest of it. Anemo Hypostasis will trigger a reaction every time you try to attack it with a different element. At the start, you should be using characters who wield either a Bow or a Catalyst, so that you can keep your distance while you try to deal damage to the enemy. Once it has become vulnerable, you can use normal or physical attacks or use your characters who wield a Sword, Claymore, Polearm, or whoever your main DPS is.

Using elemental skills and combos can go a long way, select a character from your team that has powerful elemental reactions when skills are combined, just remember to refrain from picking an Anemo user. Once the Anemo Hypostasis HP has been reduced greatly, it will try to heal itself, it will spawn 4 energy orbs in the air. It will also trigger some wind currents in the area, try to clear and get those energy orbs as fast as possible because if you don’t, the boss will absorb it back and heal itself.

Take note that the elemental core in the middle is your target, attacking them while they have their shield up is useless unless your skill can get through and cause an elemental reaction, so try to focus your attacks once the shield goes down.

Attacks & Counters

Attack Counter
Crystalfly The Anemo Hypostasis has an attack where it shoots out a blast of Anemo energy towards you after flying into the air. The blast deals AoE Anemo DMG. It will then follow-up with a slash attack which also deals Anemo damage. When you see the boss fly into the air, that's your cue to ready your dodge once it shoots out a blast, getting hit with the initial blast will most likely guarantee for you to get hit with the follow-up attack.
Meteors  The Anemo Hypostasis will move away from you and then shoots out some of its shell upwards, and then three pieces of shell will fall down on you after a few seconds, a green circle will be shown on the ground indicating that it will drop on you. After hitting the ground, it will create a wind current. The shells will deal AoE Anemo damage if it hits you. Try to target and land blows when the boss is performing this attack, because its core is exposed during this time, after this attack, the core will be shielded again. Use different elemental combos to trigger a reaction and deal more damage.
Vacuum The Anemo Hypostasis will quickly dash in near you, it then forms a ring with its shell pieces surrounding you, creating a vacuum which will suck you in. After a while, it will explode, dealing massive AoE Anemo damage. This is a tricky one to counter because you can’t dodge the explosion by using the invincible frames of your dash. The only way to not get hit by this is just by getting out of the vacuum’s pull reach and completely avoid being sucked in.
Clap The Anemo Hypostasis will form a wall with its shell, and then those walls will start closing in on you dealing Anemo damage when hit. When you see the animation of the boss forming a wall, you can quickly move out of the way. This one is very easy to dodge since it has a slow startup and you can use the invincibility frames from your dash.
Tornadoes The Anemo Hypostasis will move to the center of the stage, and start spiraling into the air. It will then form a tornado beneath it and after a few seconds, it will form 8 more tornadoes around the arena. These tornadoes will move randomly across the stage dealing Anemo damage upon contact. All you need to do here is stay out of the tornado’s way, this will be easy as all tornadoes move slow. If you try using a skill, the tornadoes will absorb the element you just used and infuse itself with the respective element.
Missiles The Anemo Hypostasis will distance itself from you, it will then float in the air and start shooting three of its shell pieces towards you dealing AoE Anemo damage upon contact. You can simply dodge this without even dashing and it is easily telegraphed.
Second Wind When the Anemo Hypostasis’ health is reduced to at least 5%, it will move to the center of the arena and releases 4 Energy orbs along with several wind currents. During this time, use the wind currents and collect as much, if not all, orbs possible. If you failed to collect some of the orbs, the boss will absorb it again healing approximately 15% of its health per orb absorbed. If you’re able to absorb all the orbs, the boss wont be able to perform this move again, meaning it won’t be able to heal itself anymore.
Vacuum Burst The Anemo Hypostasis will teleport next you and start spinning rapidly. It will then proceed to absorb any orbs in the air, unleashing a wide range of shockwave afterwards. Normally it would deal massive AoE Anemo damage, but it can also deal Pyro, Electro, Cryo, or Hydro damage if it absorbs the respective orb. Just try to create as much distance as possible when you see the boss spinning rapidly to avoid getting hit with the shockwave.

Anemo Hypostasis Lore

Code name: Beth. A high-purity Anemo entity. Elemental hypostases are life forms which have completely abandoned their former appearance and biological structure, making them able to reach the highest level of elemental purity. Research into hypostases is mainly led by scholars of Sumeru Academia, but due to the level of danger that they pose, little of substance is known about hypostases beyond their scientific name and code name.
